Get a Glimpse of North London's Amber Olivier & Her Diaristic Self-Titled EP
Love and heartbreak are very common themes in the arena of R&B. Although we just entered March, Amber Oliver's self-titled EP is a standout for interpretation. Music transformed from a craft to purposeful career for the 22-year-old North London singer/songwriter whose been writing since 17. Olivier's artistry thrives on 80’s and 90’s influences reminiscent of Aaliyah, Sade & Brandy.
There was no premeditated concept for my project, I just knew I wanted it to be honest & feel good.

"Hey" is an inviting acoustic introduction for Olivier to sweetly coo about romantic possibilities. "Eyes on Us" highlights the trepidations of a low-key love while "Come to Me" serves as an alluring testament for temptation."Can't Trust" shares the analogous production style of "Eyes on Us" with stuttering drums and heavy beatboxing. In both songs, Amber stars as the homegirl next door striving to set emotional boundaries before meeting a painful demise.
The Lost Kids songstress stands her ground in “One Unread”, an ode to pain and self-worth. She repeatedly whispers “if you thought I’d forget... I haven’t just yet”. “When It’s Over” is the truthful conclusion where Olivier processes the scars of old flames.
In hindsight, Amber Olivier's EP can be read as journal entries.The consistent, mellow sound was developed by Atu, Brent Fiayaz, DPat, Trap House Jazz genius Masego, Chicago beatmaker Nascant, Contraband prod affiliate Los Hendrix, and R&B prodigy Paperboy Fabe. They made it an easily digestible work worth repeats.
Overall, it's the perfect soundtrack for dim drives and late nights.
