Listen Up: Mecca:83 Concludes Chill-Hop 'Life Sketches' Trilogy with Last Installment

He has been working hard to complete his Life Sketches trilogy. His Sketches showcase the importance of collaboration while returning to traditional, soulful hip-hop roots. In late September, Mecca graced us with the last addition of Life Sketches while celebrating his birthday.This third installment offers a more polished sound arrangements compared to its predecessors. 83 does not shy away from balancing live instrumentation and sampling,keeping listeners on their toes as the project transitions from track to track. In comparison to Vol. 1 and 2, "The Cusp" featuring Octavio Santos exemplifies exploration into non-traditional formats of production layering and mixing.Santos brings horn heavy arrangements on "Reintroducing" and "The Cusp". Emcees Grap Luva and Von Pea take us back to the days of Pete Rock on "Let's Get It" and "Untitled". Japanese beat maker Kazumi Kaneda contributes a raw, ethereal sound for "Soul Power". Finland-based producer Monma adds a lively touch to "2 AM Vibes".
